The very small village of Sannieshof lies surrounded by the four towns of Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Mahikengand Vryburg. The closest small town is Delareyville, only 40 km’s away, which has a few attractions of its own for visitors to this part of the North West.
Sannieshof is situated in the heart of one of South Africa’s large maize producing areas and visitors may be attracted to the area for its outdoor activities. The small village is close to game reserves, dams offering fishing and water sports and various hiking and 4x4 trails.
The town offers comfortable B&B accommodation for visitors to the area.

Climate
Rainfall occurs in the mid-summer months, with February and March seeing the highest levels.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 16˚C and 30˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 0˚C and 18˚C.
Transport
There are daily flights into O R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Sannieshof is approximately 265 km away via the N14. Car rental companies are located at the Airport.
Festivals
August – Annual Spring Festival: Plenty of activity for young and old at the Spring celebrations.
October – Aardklop Arts Festival in Potchefstroom: Five days of top theatre productions and music concerts form South Africa’s Top Artists.
History
The town started as a post office to serve the farms in the district and was opened in 1920. It was named after the first Postmaster, John Voorendijk’s wife, Sannie.
In 1928, the settlement was named Roosville in honour of Tielman Roos, a member of Parliament for Lichtenburg, but the name proved to be unpopular and the original name was restored in 1952.
