Chapmans Peak Drive
Noordhoek to Hout Bay

Chapman’s Peak Drive, affectionately known as ”Chappies“ by the locals, is one of the most spectacular coastal drives in the world. It winds its way for 12 km between Hout Bay and Noordhoek on the Atlantic Coast of the south-western tip of South Africa.

Chapman’s Peak mountain at 593m and 16 km south of Cape Town is the southern extension of the Constantiaberg and the drive with its 114 twists and curves hugs the near vertical rocky coastline in an endless display of exquisite beauty. “Chappies” is a photographer’s dream with its sheer drops and towering mountains and is a ‘must drive’ for motorists and bikers.

There are many lay-byes along the route where you can stop for those priceless photos, relax with a picnic basket or just take in those stunning 180 degree views.

If the weather looks dubious then the call centre can confirm whether or not the road is open. Call +27 (0)21 791 8222 before you set off.
