An African Wilderness Experience
The Mountain Zebra National Park is located close to the town of Cradock and is a haven for some of the most wonderful wildlife South Africa has on offer. The National Park lies nestled in the untouched beauty of the Eastern Cape, surrounded by valleys, hills, rocky outcrops and green Karoo vegetation.
This unique National Park was established in 1937 and was formed to conserve the last remaining population of the Cape Mountain Zebra. After having protected the Mountain Zebra from near extinction, the Park boasts hundreds of these beautiful animals residing in safety within its borders. The park is over 28 000 hectares of beautiful scenery with an abundance of wildlife offering its’ visitors a special African wilderness experience which includes other species such as the Cape Buffalo, Black Rhino, Cheetah, Black and Red Wildebeest, Caracal and many more.
The Park boasts a recorded 216 bird species which includes Ostrich, Blue Crane, Secretary Bird, Martial Eagle and Jackal Buzzards. Besides the uncommon wildlife, the Mountain Zebra Park is also known for its’ threatened vegetation biomes, Grassland, Nama Karoo and Savannah which all contribute to the wild beauty of the Park.
The Park is only 300 km from Port Elizabeth and is Malaria free making it a prime option for families looking for a weekend getaway. With all that the park has to offers though, visitors are urged to stay a little longer in order to experience a true wildlife vacation.

Admission
Day visitor admission fees range from R40 to R160 per person. Prices are subject to change, please contact the park directly to confirm all costs.
Gate Times
April to September: Monday to Sunday, 07h00 – 18h00
October to March: Monday to Sunday, 07h00 – 19h00
Find Us
Mountain Zebra National Park is situated about 12 km from the town of Cradock in the Eastern Cape. Cradock is accessible via the N10 highway and the Park is situated on the R61 between Cradock and Graaff-Reinet. There are signposts within the town of Cradock to direct you to the Park.
Climate
Rainfall occurs in the mid-summer months, with February and March seeing the highest levels.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 14˚C and 30˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 2˚C and 17˚C.
Transport
There are daily flights into Port Elizabeth International Airport. Cradock is approximately 243 km away along the N10 and car hire facilities are available at the Airport.
