Bush Camps & Lodges   Tented Camps A commercial establishment of permanent, semi-permanent and/or mobile tented facilities usually located close to or within popular areas such as rivers, lakes, protected areas, national parks, game reserves or forests. Similar to a lodge, but you stay in a furnished tent, mostly sized for two people. There is usually a private bathroom with WC and shower at the back, accessible from inside the tent. Larger camps may have souvenir shops, bars, other permanent buildings, and swimming pools.
Cabins & Chalets A cabin is a small house or cottage, usually of simple design and construction, usually made of rough logs and a chalet is similar except for its wide overhanging eaves at the front and sides, typically found in the Swiss Alps or used as a ski lodge.
Camping & Caravanning A camping and caravan park is a facility that provides ablution and toilet facilities and space for guests to provide for their own accommodation, such as a tent, motorhome and/or caravan. Most provide electrical connections and some provide activities and entertainment of various sorts.
Country Houses A country house is a residential dwelling that provides overnight accommodation. It can be an existing home, a renovated home or a building that has been specifically designed and is usually situated in natural, peaceful surroundings such as near a nature reserve, a forest, a lake etc.
Guest Farms A guest farm is a farm that offers accommodation and an opportunity for city dwellers and their children to experience the farming lifestyle.
Guest Houses A guest house is either a converted house, adapted to accommodate overnight guests, or specifically built, with normally at least 4 letting bedrooms, some with en-suite or private facilities. It is usually run as a commercial business and is often owner-managed. Breakfast is available and evening meals may be provided. There are public areas which are for the exclusive use of the guests. The owner/manager either lives off-site, or in a separate area within the property.
Holiday Houses & Apartments A holiday house or apartment is a privately owned property, that holidaymakers can rent and run as if it were their own home for the duration of their vacation.
Hotels A hotel is a commercial establishment with a minimum of six rooms providing lodging, meals, and other guest services to the travelling public, has a reception area and offers a communal eating area. At least three of the rooms must have en-suite bathroom facilities.
Hotels   Boutique Boutique hotels usually have a 5-star rating, with top class service and a unique and exclusive style. They are marketed to the wealthy and are generally quite small establishments.
Hotels   International Resort An international resort hotel has a range of leisure and sporting facilities. These can include an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool and leisure centre and other country pursuits.
Hotels   Large Large hotels have 300 or more rooms and usually provide additional guest facilities such as a swimming pool, fitness centre, business centre, childcare, conference facilities and social function services.

Motels A motel is roadside hotel specifically designed for motorists. The rooms are arranged in low blocks and accessible from a parking area directly outside.
Resorts A resort offers a spread out collection of single or double story accommodation units and is similar to a hotel in that it offers a wide range of facilities. A camping area may be included.
