A Beautiful Loop

When in Cape Town, a city regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world, a sightseeing drive around the Cape Peninsula Loop is a must-do! This is an approximately 150 km circular route which takes you past some of the most incredible sites that the Mother City has to offer.

The Cape Peninsula Loop is one of the top 10 tourist attractions and ranks with the most scenic drives in the world. The route can be taken in a clockwise, starting Cape Town to Camps Bay, or anti-clockwise, starting Cape Town to Muizenberg/Kalk Bay. Either way, depending on how many stops you would like to take, should take between 6 to 8 hours.

Both directions have their up-side, starting with a drive from Camps Bay towards Hout Bay means you can stop for an awesome breakfast at the Noordhoek Farm Village, if you start from Kalk Bay you will most likely catch the incredible sunset driving from Hout Bay to Camps Bay, around 19h00 in summer, before heading into the city for a dinner.

Choose attractions along the way, or better yet plan them beforehand, like a boat trip to Seal Island from Hout Bay or making sure you have enough time to spend shopping at the Bay Harbour Market if you find yourself doing the drive over the weekend! Cape Point is a treat and the Lighthouse is a must see, visit the penguins at Boulders Beach and squeeze in a few museum visits along the historical mile in Simon’s Town.

There is so much to see along this scenic drive, find out about each town along the way, you may want to do it twice!
