plekke wat jy nooit sal vergeet nie

The town of Deneysville was named after Deneys Reitz, born in 1882, who was the Minister of Water Affairs at the time of the dam's construction and was a son of a former president of the Orange Free State Republic.

The Reitz family weekend cottage is now St. Peters Interdenominational Church. This beautiful historical stone and thatch building with inspiring views has become a popular wedding venue.

Used as a Church since 1978, the initial 2 rondawel-like structures were originally built & owned by the brother of Deneys Reitz . Its Foundation Stone was laid by Rev 'Bill' Meaker of the Methodist Church in Sasolburg
