Primate Centre, where friends & family meet

Monkey Town, as its name suggests is a Wildlife Centre and sanctuary for monkeys and apes. It is located on the N2 just outside Somerset West and was founded by Rosaline Grobler over 20 years ago when she rescued her first monkey, a brown Capuchin named Cebsus.

Rosaline has since rescued 270 monkeys and the Monkey Town Primate Sanctuary now has more than 230 resident animals. There are 28 different exotic species including Tammy, Ruby and Sunny the famous Chimp sisters.

If you are crazy about monkeys this is the place to visit. Here the monkeys roam free in various sections and visitors walk along a caged walkway so as not to intrude in any way with the primates in their living space. This also allows the visitors a wonderful opportunity to observe the way the monkeys live.

The Sanctuary offers a full day of activities for all ages and now also has a separate reptile garden which guests can visit. Bring along the family and your camera and come and enjoy a day out with the monkeys!
