The small town of Augrabies lies on the south bank of the Orange River about 100 km downstream from Upington and is surrounded by lush green vineyards.

Both Augrabies and Marchand are mostly populated by workers on the vineyards.

Augrabies is located on the R359 just outside the Augrabies Falls National Park from which the town got its name. It is the official home of the Northern Cape Tourism Authority (NCTA) of South Africa.
