Home of Hartiwood
Pretville is a weekend attraction in Hartbeespoort, only an hour from Johannesburg or Pretoria, and a fun outing for young and old. It is the film set of the Afrikaans musical film of the same name from Hartiwood Films.
The movie Pretville is a rollicking Afrikaans musical set in the 1950’s. On completion of shooting the 50’s movie the set was literally converted into a working village and theme park where people can work, shop and play. This brightly coloured, busy-looking, vibrant movie town offers visitors many photo opportunities. Visit the set of the movie “French Toast” and see the replica of the Eiffel Tower and famous Love Lock Bridge. Although Pretville is not the main set for French Toast, one of the Pretville sets were used in the movie. This particular movie set is now a small Café serving up none other than, French Toast - 8 fingers and a bowl of delicious golden syrup with a selection of coffees. Both movies, Pretville and French Toast are shown at the Theme Park and tickets can be pre-booked or bought at the Diner.
The 1950’s Diner serves up great Cheese Burgers, Hot Dogs, Milkshakes and a wonderful Rock ‘n Roll atmosphere. Peer into some of the old movie sets, admire the classic cars and take a step back in time. For those who like to take a keepsake home, why not visit Zaza’s photo booth and pose for a few classic pics!
