Sea Point Pavilion Swimming Pools

Cape Town’s Most Prized Public Space

The promenade at Sea Point runs the length of its beachfront, from Bantry Bay to Mouille Point and is a hub of activity. It is here you will find the Sea Point Pavilion Swimming Pools, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, one of Cape Town’s most prized public spaces!

This iconic landmark, which dates back to the 1950’s, attracts Capetonians and tourists from all walks of life. Summer holidays are lively, so arrive at a good hour to claim the best sunbathing spots. From Olympic-sized pools to splash pools and diving boards, this community open-air pavilion facility has it all, including fantastic views as the pools are literally on the edge of the Ocean.

Picnics are welcome or bring some cash for the refreshment kiosks which offer beach side favourites like slap chips, Coldrinks and soft serve!

The pools use fresh seawater which means, drought or not, the pools are open for business year-round. They are unheated and this also means they are usually only home to SA’s top open-water swimmers, out of season, who do not mind challenging winter's cold water temperatures to continue training!
