Camps Bay Beach

A jewel of a beach

Camps Bay’s jewel of a beach, awarded Blue Flag status in 2008, offers breathtaking views of Lion's Head and the Twelve Apostles and is well-known internationally for its pristine, white, sandy, beach and dazzling, blue, tranquil, waters which is packed with beautiful people, especially over weekends and holidays. Umbrellas and loungers are available to rent.

Due to its protected position in the bay, the sea is calm and good for swimming and at its southern end there is a huge tidal pool where kids, and adults alike, can swim safely. You can even braai on the surrounding lawns.

The paparazzi lurk incognito behind beach umbrellas and the adjacent fashionable restaurants and coffee shops, keeping an eye out for the international stars that regularly visit this beautiful part of the world, during the summer months.

This long stretch of beach fringed by palm trees is perfect for sunbathing and its wide, open, flatness means that team activities like Frisbee and social beach volleyball can be enjoyed by its more active visitors. There is a stretch of lawn in front where picnics are often enjoyed and the beach is safe, clean and family friendly with a seasonal life guard station and toilets at the west end of the beach.

Mediterranean and vibey, Camps Bay with its trendy nightlife, hosts numerous events like international beach volleyball tournaments and the popular Summer Beach Festival.
