Take Part & Support Education
The Botrivier Challenge is a fun and exciting challenge for athletes. A two-day event in the scenic town of Bot River, this challenge is the only community-run event in the country.
Now in its 14th year running, the event is organised by the non-profit organisation, the Botrivier Education Foundation. The Foundation initiative aims to raise funds to assist underprivileged adolescents with the opportunity of tertiary education.
Kicking off the event will be the ever popular 5 km neon night run or walk. The organiser once again expects over 1000 walkers and runners to participate so bring along your neon lights and join in the fun! There will be live music and plenty of fun throughout the weekend for both young and old. Kids can enjoy horse cart rides and other fun activities and there will be plenty of food stalls available with scrumptious and mouth-watering treats! This years’ event includes a Spitbraai festival and potjiekos competition!
If the night time run is not for you then join in the early morning trail run/walk. There is a race for any fitness level from 5 km to 21 km and for the cyclists there are 15 km to 55 km routes to choose from. The routes will challenge cyclists with a few inclines along the way, but they also boast some beautiful scenery!
Bring the whole family, there are various accommodation options that the organisers are happy to assist you with, and enjoy a little spring time in the Bot River Valley!
