The Best Thing to do in The Karoo

The annual Williston Winterfees takes place near the end of the flower season in the small Karoo town of Williston. This year will be the ninth Williston Winterfees!

Touted as the most authentic cultural festival in South Africa, the Williston Winter Festival is a unique event that draws crowds to the Northern Cape Karoo at the start of every spring. The festival grounds are situated around the Williston Mall – a rather unique and quirky tourist attraction in its’ own right.

The festival celebrates the end of winter and all that makes the Karoo unique and wonderful – friendly people, the Northern Cape landscape, Karoo customs and talent, as well as music and family entertainment that includes the highlight of the festival, the Nama Riel dance, performed by more than 100 dancers!

The Williston Festival, as always will have lots of stalls with delicious Karoo delicacies and other eats and drinks. The market stalls will have plenty to browse through with home made goodies and crafts. Carnival play land offers games for young and old and the music line-up is an awesome mix of visiting and local bands and performers.

The Williston Winterfees is the perfect festival to enjoy with your friends and family and have a relaxed and entertaining Karoo get-away. This festival is not your ordinary festival, but a celebration of life, and people, in a setting like no other festival has to offer. Williston is a small town so you should book early if you want to sleep over.
