Enjoy Nature at its Best

The Mountain Sanctuary Park is a private nature reserve, covering 1000 hectares of land close to Magaliesburg and only 120 km’s west of Johannesburg. It is every bit as restful as its name promises and an ideal destination to reconnect with nature.

Visitors, day and over-nighter's, are invited to come and discover nature in its truest form as the Park is essentially a hiking reserve. On offer are trails that range from 15 minutes to 8 hours, but hiking here is a little different as you will not be restricted to guided hikes or set routes. Hikers have the freedom to explore and enjoy the full 1000 hectares of the reserve and can cool off in crystal clear mountain pools while doing so. Hikers Guides are available at reception on arrival. The Park also offers easy and difficult Mountain Bike Trails, their 12 km bike trail forms part of the Magalies Monster Race and is very demanding, so beware!

Visitors can expect to experience the remarkable beauty of flora, bird and butterfly life and should also be on the lookout for jackal, warthog, klipspringer’s and monkeys in and around the Park. Pack your picnic basket, bring along your braai meat (limited space at pool area) or enjoy lunch at the Park’s restaurant – whichever you choose just make sure to book yourself a spot for a peaceful, nature filled experience!

Mountain Sanctuary Park has been open to the public for many years and has achieved a well-deserved reputation as one of the quietest and most peaceful reserves in South Africa. There is no music, radio’s or musical instruments allowed and the swimming pool and picnic areas are far enough away from the chalets, cabins and camping sites to ensure peaceful siestas for all.

Find Us

• Take the R512 (past Lanseria).
• At the Broederstroom T-junction turn LEFT.
• After Pecanwood turn RIGHT at the SUN-CITY / BRITS turn-off.
• At the T-junction turn RIGHT towards BRITS / SUN CITY.
• At the 4-way stop (ENGEN on right) turn LEFT towards SUN CITY.
• Follow this road for about 38km past Majakaneng, Mooinooi and Buffelspoort.
• After Buffelspoort turn LEFT at the 3-way stop.
• After about 10km turn LEFT towards MAANHAARRAND.
• Follow the MOUNTAIN SANCTUARY PARK SIGNS.
