Tweni Beach in Umtentweni, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal
Only 2 km’s from Port Shepstone lies one of the most popular beaches in the Umtentweni area, Tweni Beach, as it is called by the locals. It is ideally located at the mouth of the Mtentweni River and has become an obvious tourist attraction.
Enjoy warm waters and a long sandy beach perfect for walks, beach games and sunbathing. Tweni Beach is the beach to bring the family too, fun and safe. Life Guards are on duty all year round and there is a unique little pool, dubbed by locals as the “granny pool”, as it is safe for kids and grannies to swim in!
Besides the obvious reasons for visiting the beach – sunbathing, swimming, surfing and so on, Tweni Beach is also close to shops and restaurants so why not head off to one of the nearby local spots to cool off or get a bit of shopping holiday shopping down.
Tweni Beach is also a great beach for surfers, 2017 saw the inaugural “Tweni 2’s Surfing Competition and 4 km Beach Run” and locals are only hoping to continue the fun on their most popular beach in years to come!
