Margate Main Beach in Margate Strand, Margate, KwaZulu-Natal
Margate beach is one of the central attractions on the South Coast and very popular with holidaymakers due to its close proximity to shops, restaurants and hotels. Margate also boasts great weather all year round so it is no wonder that it’s a favourite destination for most South Africans.
The South Coast is home to many stunning beaches and Margate Beach is one of the best. This beach proudly bears blue flag status, meaning it meets the requirements of having clean water to enjoy swimming in, a clean sandy beach perfect for any family and is perfectly safe with lifeguards on duty all year round.
The beach is a kilometre long, a great stretch for a stroll with the kids where there are plenty of sea shells to find and collect and with almost perfect weather, this sandy stretch is a great place to lay the towel down and relax for hours bathing in the sun - just remember your sunscreen!
You’ll also find pristine grass areas, swimming pools, sidewalk stalls and a recreational area making this beach the perfect choice for families. Bring along a picnic basket or grab your lunch from the refreshment kiosk or many restaurants close by.
Despite being a large beach area, December holidays brings about some extra music events and holiday fun so the area can get a little crowded. So, don’t feel left out, join in on the fun at one of the best beaches on the South Coast, but remember to book your in-season accommodation early!
