Dolphin Beach

Fun in the Sun

Jeffreys Bay is one of the most popular surf hangouts in South Africa. Its coast is a long-curved strip of beach after beach, one of which is Dolphin Beach, the towns’ main beach!

Dolphin Beach, is home to the legendary surfing spot called Supertubes, known as the best wave in Africa. It is also recognised as having one of the top five right-hand breaks in the world and home to the Billabong Pro Surfing Competition. The dunes double up on the fun as many visitors use them for sandboarding.

Dolphin Beach, has achieved Blue Flag status and is a beautiful wide sandy beach which is very popular with families and holidaymakers. If you like Pinacolatos and long walks on the beach then Dolphin beach is a great place to go, with lengthy beach walks and loads of restaurants nearby.  It also boasts a beautiful reef to snorkel in on calm days.

Made for chilling, tanning, surfing, and shell collecting, Dolphin Beach is the perfect place for families with fun for everyone. It’s fun and casual and even the weather takes it easy with only a mere 5-degree difference between Summer and Winter average temperature. In Summer, the water temperature is around 22 degrees but chilly in winter at around 16 degrees - so a wetsuit is a good idea.

Lifeguards are on duty all year and facilities include showers and ramps for easy wheelchair access. Even though over December and January the holiday-makers numbers grow extremely large the beach is still completely spotless.

If it’s not the perfect beach day, nearby you’ll find the Shell Museum and the Surf Museum. You can also visit the Shark Aquarium and the Penguin Centre for a fun educational look in to the species living just off our coast. Not only that, but Dolphins are sighted all year and Whales too appear between July and September for anyone who enjoys Whale Watching.

So, bring the family for fun in the sun or an educational tour of the nearby museums!
