The Spier Wine Estate lies on the banks of the Eerste River in the breathtakingly beautiful Stellenbosch wine region. The wine farm is only about an hour from Cape Town, and even closer from other surroundings towns such as Somerset West, Franschhoek and Gordon’s Bay.

Spier is without a doubt one of South Africa’s most historic wine farms. The Estate was established in 1692 and today has a long and very proud legacy with an entrenched cultural and historical background. The Estate with lush green lawns, historic farm buildings, vineyards, mountain views, village-style accommodation and quiet gardens captures the mystery of the Cape Winelands.

Above all, Spier is known for its fine modern wines and the Estate boasts the oldest wine cellar in the county. Wine tastings are offered as a more relaxed introduction to their Signature Range or as a more set wine tasting with or without a food pairing. Wine tasting can be enjoyed in the Wine Tasting Centre, an original Dutch gabled barn featuring over 175 wine estates or outside with stunning views of the Helderberg Mountains. 

Spier Wine Estate is the perfect destination for a full day outing for the whole family. Although wine may be the reason for the Estate, there is much to do and see from good food, markets and shopping to outdoor activities for both the energetic and those just wishing to enjoy a relaxing picnic.

Admission

There is no admission fee to the Estate, however each activity is charged for separately.

• Wine tastings begin at R35 per person.
• Picnic Baskets serve two people, starting at R395. Kiddies baskets per child start at R120.
• Segway Tours begin at R250 per person.
• Eagle Encounters entrance fee from R75 per person.
