Lake !Gariep Route
Spanning Three Provinces
Although Gariep Dam is the country’s largest dam and a water sport haven hosting a number of national and international championships, including annual sailing regattas, it is still a rural gem. The dam lies on the Orange River, just off the N1, between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The ‘Lake !Gariep Route’ runs around the dam, ulitizes several regional routes, spans three provinces and incorporates three nature reserves :
