The Fafa river has one of the finest lagoons on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal where fishing for rock fish, shad and salmon is good. The lagoon here, where the river meets the Indian Ocean, is perfect for paddling and splashing around in.
Ifafa Beach, the resort on this lagoon at the mouth of the river, is an angling haunt. Boats cruise up the river beneath cliffs densley covered by trees and bush.
The beautiful beach, which is surrounded by low cliffs and a dense coastal forest, is well protected with a large tidal pool where you can swim, fish, surf and sunbathe to your heart’s content.
The Zulu word 'iFafa' meaning 'sparkling' describes the light glittering on the surface of the river.
