Lotheni Nature Reserve is located in the southern part of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park and is one of the 12 protected areas that make up The UNESCO World Heritage site. It is well known for its splendid scenery and excellent camps and consists of 3 984 hectares of pristine land and has a wide variety of self-catering accommodation.

Attractions
Settlers' Museum is situated in the camp and has been beautifully restored in the period style of the early settlers. The old Root Homestead has early settler farming implements on display including wagons.
Accommodation
Self- contained Bungalows and Cottages
These units are fully fitted and visitors need only bring food and do their own cooking.
Simes Rustic Cottage
Visitors need to take their own linen but this cottage has exclusive use of a small dam nearby that is stocked with trout for fishing purposes. Other guests may only obtain permits to fish there when the cottage is unoccupied.
Camping sites
There are 12 campsites strategically positioned right into the mountain, away from the hutted camps, for the true camper.
Caves
Caves accommodating up to twelve guests in each are available scattered throughout the park and guests are obliged to register in the Mountain Rescue Register when they go to the caves and when they return, to avoid unnecessary rescue operations.
