Sodwana Bay is situated 90 kilometers east of Ubombo, on the coast within the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, South Africa`s first World Heritage Site and lies adjacent to Africa’s southern most coral reefs.
A drowsy coastal high forest grows around the lakes, providing shady camping sites for fishermen. Birds are plentiful, and they include the Zulu batis and Rudd's apalis.
Tonga red squirrels and several species of mongoose live in the forest, as well as suni, red and grey duiker, steenbuck, reedbuck, and some exeptionally fat bush pigs.
Scuba diving, boating and angling are its favourite attractions and it is a haven for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts.
