Africa Silks

Africa Silks is situated between the two towns of Hazyview and Graskop in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.

Climate is a very important factor in silk farming, so lucky for us the Lowveld of Mpumalanga has the ideal temperatures of between 22˚C and 29˚C with no frost. Africa Silks Weavery was opened in Graskop and after much success, seven more branches opened up around the country. In 2003 the new silk farm, previously government owned in the Bushbuckridge area, opened up and welcomed visitors.

Visitors are welcome to take a one hour tour of the active silk farm. The fascinating process is explained and you can see how the tiny silkworm cocoons are processed into threads and then used to produce a variety of products from clothing to interior decorating. The shop has plenty of silk clothing, silk filled duvets, silk sheets and even skin care products.

The Deck Restaurant offers a perfect spot to relax after your tour and serves light meals and refreshments.
