The Berlin Falls is a very pretty waterfall off the R532, and is worthy of its Provincial Heritage status. It lies on the Panorama Route, in the Sabie area, positioned amongst a collection of waterfalls, all vying for the position of being the prettiest of them all:

  • Bridal Veil
  • Horseshoe
  • Lisbon
  • Lone Creek
  • Mac-Mac

The falls lie on the Sabie River and drop 80 metres through a natural sluice into a deep dark green circular basin, flanked by red cliffs. A full view of the falls can be enjoyed from the observation platform.

Its torrent resembles a candle, with the top short drop acting as the wick, and the remaining broader veil acting like the candle’s body.

The falls were named after the capital of Germany by German miners from the gold rush days.
