Stellenbosch Golf Course in Stellenbosch, Western Cape

On the outskirts of the historic town of Stellenbosch and situated at the foot of the majestic Helderberg Mountains you will find South Africa’s fourth oldest Golf Club, the Stellenbosch Golf Course. This championship course was founded in 1904 and has hosted some of South Africa’s most prestigious tournaments including the 1999 South African Open and five South African Masters tournaments.

The course is an 18-hole, 72 Par Parklands style golf course with Kikuyu Grass Fairways and Bent Grass Greens. The course is 6 037 meters in length. The course was originally a 9-hole course and was only changed to an 18-hole course in 1953 and was designed by Peter Matkovich.

The clubhouse balcony offers scenic panoramic views of the mountains and valleys filled with vineyards and the course is immaculate and provides a wonderful challenge even to the very best golfer. The fairly narrow fairways are lined with trees Hole 8 for example, requires an absolutely straight stroke to ensure your ball does not land in the vines or bushes. Compared to other courses in the Cape and the Cape peninsula, the Stellenbosch Course is quiet protected from the wind making the game more enjoyable.

Find Us

If traveling on the N1 from Cape Town , take the Stellenbosch turn-off onto the R304. If travelling from Paarl side, take the R44 . Drive through Stellenbosch towards Somerset West , the golf club is on your right as you leave Stellenbosch.

If traveling on the N2 , be sure to take the Somerset West/Stellenbosch turn-off onto the R44 and not the R310. The golf course is on your left as you approach Stellenbosch, just past De Zalze Country Club.
