St Francis Bay Golf Course in St Francis Bay, Eastern Cape
The St. Francis Bay Golf Course is situated in St. Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
The course is an 18-hole, 71 par parklands golf course. The course is of moderate length and offers wonderful views of the ocean that the village it is built against. The course offers some tight, bush-lined holes as well as more open with oyster-shaped and pot-styled bunkers.
In 1975, the first 9-hole golf course in the area was designed by Robert Grimsdell and in 1976 on completion the course was named the Cape St. Francis Golf Course. In the early 1980’s the village changed its name to St Francis Bay as did the golf course. Many changes were made over the years, including the addition of the second nine holes and the course opened in December 1999 as a full 18-hole golf course.
The Golf Course is home to the annual “Calamari Classic Golf Tournament” held in September each year. The tournament is held over three days with players from all over the country and abroad attending.
