As the waterfall is within the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens an entrance fee is applicable.
Please also note that wheelchairs and prams may only access the waterfall via the Arboretum.

The 70 m high Witpoortjie Waterfall provides an aesthetic focal point for the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens. The surrounding cliffs reveal the fascinating geology of the area and this is a very popular spot with visitors.

The waterfall carries water throughout the year and the stream (Crocodile River) feeds into Hartbeespoort dam, several kilometres away.

A rare type of fish, called 'Marico Barb' (Barbus marcobensis), was recently discovered here by scientists.

On the left at the top of the waterfall is the nesting site of the Black Eagles. It is visible on the rock face alongside the waterfall.
