MacDougall's Bay Beach in Port Nolloth, Northern Cape

A mere 7 km outside the town of Port Nolloth lies McDougall’s Bay beach, a little gem on the Northern Cape's coast. The beach can be accessed via the road to MacDougalls Bay, shortly before one enters the town of Port Nolloth from the south.

Be warned however, that even in summer the water temperature seldom rises higher than 15 degrees and during the first part of the day a cold Atlantic mist hovers over the beach until the sun burns it off.

Lifeguards are on duty over the festive season, during 11 December to 11 January (Blue Flag season) when the sheltered beach is declared safe for swimming.

Jetskiiing, kayaking, surfing and windsurfing are favourite pastimes. 

For those who prefer terra firma, stroll along the long sandy beach or bring along your binoculars and do some bird watching. 

There are public braai facilities and the area is user-friendly for the physically disabled.
