Muizenberg Beach

For hundreds of years Muizenberg has been a popular destination for beachgoers, many of whom in the summer months, would have travelled great distances overland to this laid-back seaside town with its flat, wide, and generally calm beach; to what is perhaps one of Cape Town's nicest swimming beaches.

It is impossible to miss the characteristic and colourful beach change huts spread along the wide, sandy, child-friendly bathing area. The water is also much warmer here than at the Atlantic Seaboard beaches.

The Muizenberg Pavilion offers an outdoor swimming pool, mini golf and a waterslide, making it a popular venue for families.

For the energetic there is a seafront walkway where you can enjoy the proximity of shoreline sea-life and during June to November, you can do some whale watching.

Surfers Corner, is an excellent spot for novice or beginners with its many interesting shops, cafés and restaurants. Here you can enjoy a really good cup of cuppuccino, take some lessons or hire equipment. Although the waves aren't enormous, it is ideal for long boarding and novices.

Lifeguards are on duty during December to March (Blue Flag season) and there is plenty of parking with easy access to the beach.
