South Africa
des couleurs inoubliables

The Ethno Botanical Garden is situated in Mossel Bay in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Located within the immaculate grounds of the Dias Museum Complex, the Ethno Botanical Gardens offers a collection of plants that occur naturally in the Mossal Bay area. These include the unique fynbos vegetation particularly well represented in the Mossel Bay area where you can find common species like the Cape Reeds as well as more rare species such as the Mossel Bay Pincushion.

Incorporated into the Gardens is the Braille Trail for the visually impaired to read about, feel and smell the plants in the collection. The collection includes plants that the San, Khoi, Coloured and European settlers used for shelter, medicine and food. Some rarer plants from the gardens were even used for magic and superstitious beliefs.

The Dias Complex has several other buildings and attractions for visitors, including the famous 500 year old Post Office Tree and life size replica of the Dias Caravel Ship. It is highly recommended that you take a day to visit all the interesting attractions and museums.
