Montagu Makiti Festival

Ma-ki(e)-ti(e) "Jollification, have a good time with friends and family, feast!"

The Montagu Makiti Festival is and annual family and heritage festival held in the beautifully scenic town of Montagu in the Breede River Valley. This year the popular cultural festival will be bringing back all the favourites!

The festival kicks off with the Mime Time Show and after last years’ sell out show, visitors should book their tickets early. Tickets are sold for table seating only and invites guests to come for a laugh while supporting your local charity. A stage Show with a humorous twist and well-known music tracks that everyone can enjoy! Dinner and refreshments will be on sale.

The most popular part of the festival is the Wine & Spirits Festival which takes place over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, where festival goers are treated to craft stalls, delicious food, various fun activities as well as a relaxing day, sipping on fine wine on the beautiful Montagu Wine Farm! Saturday evening has another “not to be missed Show” featuring Mentalist Russell Fox who has been compared to the likes of Derren Brown, David Blaine and other international artists in the “Magical Arts”. The Show also includes the talents of James Mundey, singer and songwriter and a food and wine pairing from Mimosa Wines. “The evening promises to be a sensory pleasure with new memories made!”

Don’t forget the Saturday Street Parade, what is a town festival without one, and even though the festivities are over after Sunday – please support the SPCA by attending the Mutt March on Monday, 25 September between 9am and 12noon. Low-key, fun and relaxing this Mutt March allows your furry friends to walk through the gorgeous Spring Gardens, that are, for the rest of the year, banned to dogs. All paths will be open, but please keep your pooches on their leads – juice and biscuits will be served!
