Cogmanskloof Hiking Trail in Montagu, Western Cape
12,1km / 4-6 Hours / Permit required / Entrance fee payable
Cogmanskloof Hiking Trail at 12,1km is pretty steep for the first 2km from the Klipspringer overnight cabin but the rest of the route is easily managed. It is a fantastic day out for those who enjoy hiking. It will take anywhere between four and six hours to complete depending on individual capabilities, weather conditions and the size of your group.
The summit at 690m is half the height of Bloupunt but nonetheless still offers a beautiful view of Montagu, the ravines and the mountains. Stunning rock formations, wild flowers, Proteas, Aloes, Ericas and “sewejaartjies” colour the backdrop to this wonderful trail.
You may like to overnight at the Klipspringer Cabin and combine this trail with the Bloupunt Trail by turning it into an extended two day hike.
An entrance fee and a valid permit are required in order to enjoy this hike. The fee is payable at the entrance, while the permit can be acquired at the Joubert Park Office or the Hot Springs entrances.
The reserve is open to the public from 07h00 to 18h00 daily.
