South Africa
des couleurs inoubliables

The Arend Dieperink Museum is situated in Mokopane in the Limpopo Province, South Africa.

The Museum is housed in a charming old stone building, originally built as a school. It showcases the history of the area from over 3 million years ago, from the time of the ape-man at Makapan’s Caves and right through the Anglo-Boer War. The museum has a valuable cultural and historical collection of Sotho and Voortrekker artifacts and implements that details the human occupation of the area.

The typical Bushveld House exhibition shows how early white farmers lived and demonstrations are available on request, so don’t forget to ask to try the freshly baked bread and Mampoer, a locally brewed “moonshine”. Vintage farm implements, tractors and wagons are showcased outdoors.

The Makapan’s Caves can only be visited on a guided tour and these can be arranged when visiting the museum.
