Land of a Thousand Pictures
Ladybrand is a small agricultural town approximately 18 km from Maseru in Lesotho, popular among tourists for its scenery, particularly in the winter months when the Maluti mountains are covered in snow.
Not to be outdone by the lure of snow-capped mountains across the border in Lesotho, Ladybrand is referred to as the land of a thousand pictures with each season offering its own unique beauty and attractions. Cherry blossoms in Spring, hot days and succulent fruit in Summer, golden Autumn sunsets and then stunning mountain backdrops with roaring, open fires in Winter.
Ladybrand is known for its charm and tranquillity and is an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts and hikers. It is also the perfect stopover for tourists interested in human history. The Caledon Valley is believed to have been man's stomping ground for tens of thousands of years and tourists can visit the likes of Rose Cottage Cave, a Middle Paleolithic cave on the Platberg, roughly 3 kilometres east of Ladybrand. The area is also rich in San Rock Art with over 300 sites in and around Ladybrand.

Climate
Ladybrand receives approximately 696 mm of rain annually with most of its annual rainfall during summer.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 13˚C and 28˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between -3˚C and 21˚C.
Transport
There are daily flights into Bram Fischer Airport in Bloemfontein approximately 127 Km’s away along the N8 and into Moshoeshoe International Airport just across the border in Maseru, only 24 km away along the N8. Car hire facilities are available at the Airport.
History
Ladybrand was established in 1867 as one of the towns of the so-called Conquered Territories after the last war with the Sotho. It was named in honour of Lady Catharina Brand, mother of President Johannes Brand of the then Orange Free State.
