Witsand Waterhole in Far North Region, Kruger National Park, Limpopo

Kruger Park Waterholes utilise various renewable energy sources to maintain the watering systems. Wind energy generated by windmills or solar powered units brings the water to the surface and pumps it into a holding dam which in turn supplies and maintains the levels of the water pans as required.

Kudu, nyala, the rare wild dog and other animals may be seen around Witsand.
During winter when water is scarce elsewhere there is notable animal activity at the Witsand waterhole and windmill.
