Koster is a very small farming town approximately 63 km’s south west from Rustenburg in The North West Province. The towns closest neighbours are Derby and Swartruggens.
At first glance, Koster seems to have little to attract tourists, but a stay here is not necessarily about just the town with a pretty little church and a golf course, it’s about the abundance of outdoor activities the area has to offer. Koster is situated on a watershed, here the Elands River, Koster River and Mooi River have their sources and the nearby Elands River Gorge offers hiking trails with rock pools, fishing and quad-bike trails.
Koster lies close enough for visitors to enjoy day trips to Magaliesburg, Rustenburg or Hartbeespoort and to enjoy the countryside just two hours outside of Johannesburg. The town is slowly becoming a popular destination to which the city folk escape to for weekends or longer breaks.
Koster offers many cosy accommodation options from bed and breakfasts and self-catering facilities to guest houses and camping sites, there is an option for every type of tourist!
