Beautiful History

The Greyton Historical Walk shows off the rich history of this beautiful Cape Village; an area which saw many different people, from many different walks of life, pass though or settle in and claim as their home.

This is an easy walk around the town where walkers will pass by some popular Greyton restaurants, the Abbey Rose and Peccadillos Bistro, quaint deli’s like the Oak & Vigne Café and the Vanilla Café, plus walkers will pass by Greyton’s best picnic spot – this leaves plenty of options to stop along the way for a bite to eat!

The historic walk gives the walker a sense of what Greyton and the surrounding area was like in days gone by. The stroll highlights some of the first buildings erected in the village and starts off along the main road with two buildings that are now National Heritages. Then it goes on to show the likes of the first shop, old schools, old barns that once belonged to the village blacksmith, rows of old labourers' cottages and the old post office that still stands today. The stories behind these monuments will be revealed on the walk and tell an engaging tale of what once was.

The walk winds through the centre and to the outskirts of town.  Pop into the local tourism office and grab a map to help you along this beautiful walk through history.
