Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) (George Campus) in George Rural, Western Cape

George Campus is a modern institution with High-Tec facilities. It is positioned in Saasveld, between George and Knysna, in the quiet Western Cape indigenous forest.  

The George Campus offers 1300 student programmes in Natural Resource Management and Business and Social Sciences. It also offers exceptional sporting facilities such as hiking and mountain bike trails and has a magnificent nine-hole golf course. It is known as the NMMU’s green campus. 

There is also a second campus in George city centre that is used for part-time programmes.

Residences 

A total of 250 students are accommodated at this campus in 2 main residences with 21 other houses scattered on the campus. There is also a Residence Manager who looks after the student’s needs.

Three new residences have been added recently to this campus plus certified off-campus accommodation.

Notable Mention

In 2011 the campus received a new student social area with a cafeteria and a few shops. It has a stunning deck area that overlooks the Outeniqua Mountains and is now the main meeting place for students to relax.

Electronic media for teaching, learning and communication has been enhanced in the last few years. To achieve this university constantly increases its bandwidth capacity allowing students to be in contact with lecturers at any place or time.
