The Deneysville Public Recreation Area situated along the shoreline at the south-end of Waverley Street is a popular fishing and picnicing spot and is probably the best public vantage point for watching the annual Round-the-Island race or any of the other big regattas that regularly take place in Deneysville.

The site borders the Deneysville Waterbird Sanctuary at its most southerly point and the public are urged to please respect this area that approximately 80 different species of waterbirds call home.

Visitors are requested to pay an entrance fee per day, per car, plus an additional fee per caravan. There are public toilets and cold-water showers.

One may overnight but this is entirely at your own risk as there are no security measures in place.
