Formerly known as Cloetesdal, the first phase of development started in 1964 and in 1967 this township was transferred to the local municipality. In 1969 the first primary school was opened. Today there are three primary schools and one high school.
Other amenities include a library, a Breughel Theatre, swimming pool, sports complex and a guesthouse.
The Cloetesville communities take part in man sport and cultural activities.
