Evolution of the Automobile
Franschhoek is well-known for its magnificent scenery, outstanding South African wines and cheese, but if you find yourself looking for an attraction of a different kind then why not visit the Franschhoek Motor Museum. Step into car heaven, the Franschhoek Motor Museum offers visitors a special opportunity to look back at more than 100 years of motoring history!
The Museum offers a breathtaking self-guided tour through four beautifully maintained warehouses of a unique and exciting collection of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and memorabilia. Each warehouse houses about 20 vehicles, all in supremely mint condition! The curators rotate their exhibitions using different vehicles from the Museum’s collection which exceeds 220 vehicles, not including the variety of motorcycles and memorabilia. The collection of 80 display vehicles range from antique to post 1960 models including cars like the Model T Ford and even a McLaren F1.
The Museum has a wonderful coffee bar and deli which offers fantastic gourmet milkshakes, we heard a tip that the Banoffee flavour comes highly recommended!
Be sure to book as viewing is by appointment only. A full day package which includes a scenic tram ride, wine tasting at Anthonij Rupert Wine Farm and light lunch is a perfect option for a delightful day out in the surrounding Franschhoek Wine Valley.
