Friendly Family Fun
Situated just off the R44 , between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, lies the perfect venue for a fun filled family outing. The Helderberg Farm is more than just a farm. It offers a friendly atmosphere with real traditional South African charm where every member of the family will find an activity they will enjoy. From exciting 4x4 trails, hiking or braaing to kids fun, tea gardens and strawberry picking, Helderberg Farm has it all.
The Farm is a virtual nature reserve and wine estate with added extras. Wine grapes of the highest quality are produced on the farm adding to the already scenic surroundings, but visitors can also expect to encounter indigenous wildlife on the farm and you may even come across the tracks of the Cape Leopard. Visiting birdwatchers have recorded seeing over 100 different species of bird, the Fish Eagle’s cry is often heard on the farm.
The hiking trail, approximately 20 km, offers panoramic views of the Cape Peninsula, False Bay, Table Bay and Table Mountain. On a clear day even Robben Island is visible. The location of the Farm, at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain, keeps the area fairly free from the prevailing summer and winter winds making it a perfect spot to seek shelter from the howling Southeasterly. If it gets too chilly in winter time, the cosy fireplace in Die Stal dining hall will still ensure your visit is an enjoyable one, nothing beats a fireplace and fine food after a winter hike or outdoor play.
Each activity is charged separately and hiking permits can be obtained from the Kiosk. Please contact the farm directly for enquiries, bookings and to confirm prices.
