The FNB Joburg Art Fair is an international art fair in Johannesburg, focused on contemporary art from the African continent and is the leading, premium visual art event in Africa. Now in its tenth year, the Fair represents the only sustainable art fair on the African continent open to the international art scene.
The FNB Joburg Art Fair continues to provide a space for leading artists, curators, collectors, writers, thinkers and art enthusiasts to congregate. It creates a platform for up and coming as well as leading artists and thinkers and sees an annual flock of art appreciators to the Sandton Convention Centre to peruse and purchase the works of hundreds of artists. 2017 will feature 60 exhibitions within 5 categories including Contemporary and Modern Art, Solo Presentations, Limited Editions and Art Platforms. The selected galleries and organisations are from 12 countries across Africa, Europe and the United States.
Some of the galleries presented on the Limited Edition Platform are Artvault, David Krut Print Workshop and 50TY/50TY and some of featured solo projects include Bronwy Katz, Ilana Seati and Antonio Ole. This years’ Guest Curator of Special Projects is Dr Zoe Whitely.
The event attracts a wide audience and forefronts a diverse “Joburg Art Week” with various events happening around the city from open studios, gallery openings, workshops and debates.
