- Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape is full of incredibly beautiful countryside and many lonely gravel roads of which some are also the highest and steepest gravel mountain passes in the country. Rossouw lies on such a gravel pass, Killian’s Pass, which makes it onto the list of highest mountain passes in South Africa. It is neither a difficult or long Pass and easy enough for all vehicles, unless it has been raining or snowing, when a 4X4 might be necessary on the muddy and slippery surface!
Rossouw is a pretty little town along the trout-rich Bell River, surrounded by spectacular mountains. This part of the world is meant for adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts. The tiny hamlet though is also worthy of a stop, if only for its little red-roofed church.
Accommodation options include Self-Catering units and B&B’s in the neighbouring towns of Barkly East, Elliot and Dordrecht.
