Pilgrim’s Rest Golf Course is situated Pilgrim’s Rest in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
The course is a 9-hole, 70 Par Golf Course with 18 tees. It is 5 720 metres in length and is a Forest Type Course.
The Golf Course is located on the outskirts of this quaint town and undoubtedly enjoys some of the most scenic wooded golf course property in the country. It is surrounded by no less than five nature reserves, one being the very well-known Blyde River Nature Reserve. The course is one of the most beautiful in the area, offering a forest setting with mountains all around.
The Course has a challenging layout and will not be a “walk in the park” for the visiting golfer. It has proved to be more tricky than challenging really, with many golfers underestimating the sixteenth hole in particular and its strategically placed trees and water pond.
The course boasts an historic clubhouse which was built with materials brought up from Groot Marico by ox-wagon in 1932 when the golf course was founded. The atmospheric pub, plentiful birdlife and the scenic course is a must for any visitor to the Pilgrim’s Rest area!
Green fees are between R170 and R280. Prices are subject to change so it is recommended that interested parties contact the Golf Course directly. Visitors are welcome seven days a week.
Rainfall occurs mainly in the mid-summer months, with December and January seeing the highest levels.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 14˚C and 24˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 4˚C and 19˚C.
There are daily flights from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town into the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Mombela (Nelspruit). Car rental companies are available for easy access to the surrounding areas with Pilgrim’s Rest being just over an hour away along the R537. Road trips from Johannesburg to Pilgrim’s Rest via the N12 will take about 4 hours.
