Compulsory to Horse Ride
Perdekop is a very small village 38 km north of Volksrus and approximately 47 km south of Standerton. Its’ name refers to its history and location, Perdekop (Horses Hill) is situated around a 1 889 m peak which played a major role in keeping the Boer's horses alive and safe from sickness.
This is really a tiny town on a little hill, so small actually that it could be covered on foot or bicycle! However, if you are visiting be sure to stop in at some of the attractions in and around the town, like the huge NGK Church or Majuba Hill or Perdekop itself.
When in Perdekop it is compulsory to go horse riding, and Little Farm Adventures is the perfect spot to do just this for both beginners and experienced riders. Another must before you leave town is Oom Gert Van Der Westhuizen's private Roodedraai Museum - one of South Africa's largest collections of Anglo-Boer War memorabilia. It’s an educational trip that marvels both children and adults.

Perdekop receives approximately 795 mm of rain annually with most rainfall occurring during the Summer months.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 14˚C and 27˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 0˚C and 21˚C.
There are daily domestic and international flights into Johannesburg’s, O R Tambo International Airport, approximately 207 km away via the R50 and N17 and Lanseria Airport approximately 240 km’s away via the R23. Car rental companies are available for easy access around the area.
Originally spelt “Paardekop”, this tiny town was established during an equine epidemic. Farmers discovered that if they brought their horses to top of this specific hill, they were protected from the sickness.
The name of this hill and soon to be village was thus Perdekop which means Horses Hill.
