Born To Fly

The Cape Town International Kite Festival will be celebrating its 22nd anniversary this year and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before with plenty of family fun activities for all. This is Africa’s largest kite festival, attracting approximately 20 000 visitors each year including some of the most well-known kiting people in South Africa.

The festival features kite flying stunts and Rokakau kite battles as well as giant inflatables that will keep visitors entertained all weekend. Visitors can bring along their own kites or browse the shop and see the many new affordable types of kites on sale. If you don’t fly, come along anyway and see the amazing kite creations from around the world.

The festival also features a number of wonderful craft stalls with assorted market wares and plenty of food vendors with mouth-watering lunch ideas as well as a tea garden where visitors and relax with a fresh cup of java.

The festival weekend is proudly hosted by Cape Mental Health and all proceeds from the festivities go toward helping provide vital psychiatric services to adults and children with mental health disabilities in under privileged communities.
