The Lost City Golf Course, situated at Sun City in the North West Province of South Africa is an 18-hole, 72 par desert - style golf course. The course is 6983 m in length.
Designed by the legendary Gary Player himself, this Golf Course covers more than 100 hectares and incorporates 28 000 square metres of water features, including a series of lakes that separate the 9 th hole with the last 18th.
The 13 th hole, a green shaped into the continent of Africa, has 2 metre long crocodiles sharing its water feature. This course is one of the most unique and interesting you will find in the world.
Green fees vary from R390 to R650, excluding foundation and caddy fees. Prices are subject to change so it is recommended that interested parties contact the Golf Course directly.
Sun City experiences rainfall mainly in the summer months with the highest occurring in December.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 15˚C and 30˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 2˚C and 20˚C.
There are daily local and international flights into O R Tambo International Airport and Lanseria International Airport. Tour Buses and car rental facilities are available for tourists heading out to Sun City. Bus Tours would need to be pre-arranged with the Resort, a travel Agent or Tour Operator.
Gary Player was born in Johanneburg in 1935 and at age 29, after winning the 1965 U.S. Open, he became the only non-American to win all four majors and only the third golfer in history to win the Career Grand Slam.
Today he is also a renowned golf course architect and has 325 projects on five different continents. The Lost City Golf Course opened in 1993.
