Engelhardt Dam

The best way to experience the Engelhard Dam is along the S62, which runs along the northern banks of the river. Game is usually plentiful in the area.

This dam is named after Charles Engelhard, a US airforce bomber and later chairman of the Rand Mines group.

The dam is a long stretch of water on the Letaba River and is surrounded by three habitats, the rocky Lebombo range to the east, the surrounding mopaneveld and riverine bush on the river banks.

Some of the best birding in South Africa may be experienced along the northern banks of the Engelhard Dam, close to Letaba.
