Korinberg is one of the lesser known Swartland towns, however the Koringberg Mountain Biking Trail has made this a popular spot for mountain bikers and the annual Swartland Mountain Biking Weekend has quite literally put the little village on the map. The Trail is a full day, guided ride to a secret destination with a promise of glorious panoramic views!
The area has become very popular with para-gliders, horse-riders and the nearby Misverstand Dam and Berg River provides tourists with many water activities including canoeing, boating and fly-fishing.
Koringberg is close enough to the neighbouring towns, all less than an hour away, so visitors can travel to Tulbagh, Riebeeck Kasteel, Malmesbury, Hopefield or Piketberg to enjoy their attractions and the many wine estates along the way – and if it is the beach you are looking for, Yzterfontein is approximately 83 km away!
There is plenty of accommodation to choose from in the vicinity of Koringberg. Between the neighbouring towns visitors’ options include Guesthouses, B&B’s, self-catering, Country Hotels and camping facilities.

The town was originally known as Warrens Camp and it was only in 1923 after the community broke away from the Dutch Reformed Church in the neighbouring towns of Moorreesburg and Hopefield, that the town became known as Koringberg.
Its name is Afrikaans and translates directly into “Wheat Mountain”. The town was so named because it is situated in a wheat growing area. The same name is also applied to the little railway town at its foot from which the golden harvest is despatched.
